Hello, I received my Hero Arts monthly card kit at the beginning of this month and have just now gotten around to playing with it and boy did I have fun! I love that it is inspired by the look of the 50’s fashion and classic elegance. It When first playing with a card kit I try to see what I can make with the materials provided without reaching into my stash, with the exception of paper of course. I see a lot of people adding stuff from their stash and they make beautiful cards, however my stash isn’t very big as I am rebuilding it. That being said, I think I was able to make some nice cards. A lot of them are similar and with different sentiments but I still had fun and didn’t even use all of the stamps in the set. You really do get a lot of stamps for the cost of the kit, and the dies to match which makes it amazing! I am not a monthly subscriber as it isn’t in my budget, I pay a little extra for it when I do order it when it is within my budget to do so. Anyway, I just wanted to share some of the cards I made to celebrate the wonderful Mom’s out there. All of you out there are classic beauties! I love this kit and can’t wait to see what the next one has to offer. Do any of you get the kits? Did you get this one? What do you think?
Yikes! I’m taking a bold step on my crafting adventure. This coming Saturday (April 29, 2017) I will partake in my very first craft fair! I’m excited and terrified all at the same time. I have my Etsy store and my Facebook page but this will be my first time interacting with people one on one selling my creations. I have been a mad crafter for the past couple of weeks. The chance to be a vendor in this show came by chance and I agreed on a whim. But now I am biting my nails and pulling out my hair trying to make sure I have everything that I could possibly need. Have any of you done a craft fair before? Is it always nerve wracking?
My craft room is a wreck and so am I. It’s exciting too to think that people will be seeing all the things I make. I won’t just be showing the cards I’ve been making but planner clips, hair bows, and bookmarks and wooden dragon puzzles my husband made. I hope it goes well. If you have any pointers or suggestions please let me know. I’d love to hear them. Here are some pictures of all the stuff I have so far, including a new cart to haul everything and a canopy to protect us from this hot Arizona sun. My hubby made a card display for me and my daughter and her friends finished it off and decorated it in a nice beachy theme, what do you think?
Hello out there in blog-land. Today I just wanted to share my excitement over pen pals! I love snail mail but never get it unless I order something online. Thanks to a wonderful post by puddleside musing, I have joined postcrossing, a wonderful site where you send postcards to different people around the world. I have always wanted a pen pal but had no idea how to get one. Thanks to her wonderful post, she listed different sites where you can get one. Post crossing is great, but I want to have a real pen pal. Someone I can write to more than one time and get responses. I am currently trying out geekgirlpenpal.com and I have had conversations with a couple of wonderful ladies. I’m hopeful I can have a friendship with them. But I’d like more. Am I being greedy or over excited? I don’t know. I’ve never done this before but I’m having fun with it. Right now all my conversations are through email and not snail mail yet. I hope that happens soon. I love sending letters. If anyone out there wants to be a pen pal or knows how I can find another one please let me know. I love learning about people and various places, even here in the states. I don’t get out much! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! These lovely postcards are waiting to be sent somewhere. 😁
Enjoy life’s sweet moments!
Hello, today started out terrible! This morning began with me dropping my iPad on my kitchen floor on the way to get my first cup of coffee and completely shattered the screen! then I cut two fingers on it when I tried to pick it up. Oi! What a way to start the day. I then proceeded to develop a migraine. Lovely! Anyway, I set a goal for myself to create or do something productive every day. Needless to say, after this beginning to the day I just wanted to veg in front of the television and catch up on Netflix. I grabbed my coffee and went to turn on the television only to find that it’s broken. Half of the screen was completely black and my hubby was at work so he couldn’t switch T.V.’s for me. (Because we have our iPads, we got rid of all but two T.V.s in the house and the second is in our bedroom but since we moved we also got rid of cable and only have Roku in the family room.) So, no T.V. for me, and since my iPad screen was shattered I could not watch Netflix on there either.
So what to do? I was in no mood to read because I was in a foul mood and chores were out of the question. Like I said, I just wanted to veg and wallow in my frustration at the way my day was going. Eventually I dragged myself into my craft room and sat and stared for a while. I decided to journal about my frustrations and that helped a little and then played with my planner for a bit. Finally I saw some materials I had purchased for a project a while ago and never got to. It wasn’t because I didn’t have the time, I just lost my inspiration for it. Does that ever happen to you? You get inspired to do a project, buy the materials, and then the inspiration fizzles? Happens to me often.
I had no idea how my project would turn out when I purchased the materials, I just had a rough idea about what I wanted to do with them. Anyway, I started grabbing this and that and then ta-da, I was done. In the end I made three different versions of these magnet boards and before I knew it, I was in the creative zone and 8 hours had passed. My fowl mood had diminished and I had fun. I guess that’s just it. Sometimes you gotta dig in and have fun and turn things around. I didn’t reach for the materials I had with the least bit of creative inspiration or joy. I just grabbed what I had and went with it. It worked. I feel better. I’m still bummed about my iPad, but in the end, a day that began terribly turned around and now I feel better and I made something I think is pretty and useful. I made 3 magnet boards and think they turned out pretty okay. I’m so happy I was able to turn my day around. That is something I have a hard time doing. Yay for small successes!
Have a good day and enjoy life’s sweet moments!
