If any of you have read the “About” section you know that I struggle with mental illness. Lately I think I have been in a bit of a manic episode which has been bad news for my bank account and not as productive as I’d hoped. I have a million ideas for various crafts I can’t concentrate on one and the thoughts are so fast I can’t keep up with them to write them down. Anyone else have those moments?
I’m trying to keep myself occupied by creating things and keeping busy. Lately I am fascinated with organizers (planners?). I’m not sure what they are called, one company is called the Happy Planner. I found they are an expensive hobby. I have had a thing for stationary and day planners so it’s no wonder why I am so drawn to it. Right? I’m still trying to figure out how it works though? I’ve been glued to YouTube watching videos about other people’s planners and they are so beautiful.
I went to Michael’s craft store and looked at the planners they have and instantly became overwhelmed by all the choices. I still have no idea what I’m looking at or what I’m doing so instead of spending a lot of money on a planner that I was clueless about I went to Walmart and bought a marked down planner and figured I’d practice my planner journaling with that and see how it goes.
I like how it’s the vertical format and not the horizontal but I am so picky about how I want my planner. Does anyone know if there is a way I can design my own pages? I am also looking for a planner small enough to fit in my purse so I can take it with me. I like the ones with a monthly view as well as a weekly view. I know, I’m picky. Normally my planner runs from July to June of the following year to coincide with the school year since my whole world revolves around the kids’ school year. Anyone out there do the planner thing? If so, do you have any suggestions for me? I’m kind of all over the place and not sure about my planner style. I’m still trying to find what works for me. The larger page planners give me more room to write for those extra crazy days but I like to plan as I’m on the go. I do have a calendar app on my phone which I’m constantly updating but I love pen and paper and writing down things.
Ok, so back to the insanity and a planner. I went a bit overboard buying cute things to decorate my pages and building may washi collection to adorn my pages since I only had 2 rolls prior to my shopping spree. I went to JoAnn fabrics and craft store and all papercrafting supplies were on sale y had 2-3 packs of washi for $1.19 (US) each. So as you can see from the photo, I made sure to stock up. I also went on a crazy spending spree buying stamps for cards and signing up for card kit of the month clubs. I joined 5! Hundreds of dollars later my bank account is low and I am eagerly waiting for my goodies. Hopefully I can come up with some good ideas!
Part of my insanity is OCD and I am a collector. If I find one thing in a set I like I have to have the whole set or just a large collection, hence my new washi collection. I couldn’t just join one kit of the month card kit memberships, I had to try to join all but then I had to rationalize with myself and be realistic in the fact I would not be able to do them all. Sometimes I think I’m Wonder Woman and can do it all! Anyone else do that? When I am manic I bite off way more than I can chew and commit to more than I can handle. When I am manic reality and I are strangers. I have to force myself to set realistic goals and be aware of myself and my actions. It’s very hard to do!
Here is a little look at my cheap planner and my accessories. My schedule for the rest of the week is pretty slow since my mom will be out to visit me for the weekend! I’m am so excited! If this post seems a bit all over the place, I apologize. It kinda goes with the mania. If any of you have any pointers on how to work with my planner I would love to hear them! If any of you can relate to my insanity, yay! Haha! That means I’m not so alone in my journey with insanity!
Until next time,
Enjoy life’s sweet moments!
